Davidsons Blast Services (DBS) was awarded the globally-recognised NORSOK M501 certification after demonstrating its competence of the activities in line with the specifications set out by the Norwegian petroleum industry.
The family firm, which provides blast cleaning and application of protective coatings to the oil and gas, decommissioning and subsea industries, secured the certification in a two-day assessment at its Peterhead premises.
It was undertaken by DSB’s expert blasting and coating team, which involved achieving the correct surface profile during the blasting process and applying the approved paint to a specified dry film thickness range. It was then evaluated by an independent assessor who completed the process with an adhesion test.
Nicola Harris, commercial director for DBS, said: “At DBS we strive to build upon our excellent reputation for quality and we are extremely proud of our team’s success. Their successful achievement of the NORSOK M501 certification in addition to the company’s ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications further demonstrates our commitment to offer clients a first class service.
“The NORSOK M501 standard was developed for challenging offshore environments and is a major standard for the assessment of product reliability for both onshore and offshore application. Achieving the certification demonstrates to our clients that our trusted and expert team of blasting and coating technicians together with a range of high quality products protects a wide range of assets in the most demanding markets and environments.”
